If you’re looking for humidity protection and happy to blow-dry your curls smooth, Perfecting Hair Mist fits that routine. It requires blow-drying on a hot setting while brushing gently. Don’t expect it to preserve your curl pattern: that’s not what the mist promises.
How to apply and blow-dry it
After washing, squeeze out excess water with a towel. Spray generously onto damp hair, working section by section, then distribute with your fingers or a detangling brush. Blow-dry on a hot setting, brushing gently as you go. Leave out any other styling product until this drying step is finished. You don’t need to reapply the mist after every wash.
Even gentle brushing loosens the definition of damp curls. This mist is meant to smooth frizz, not define curls, so keep that in mind before you reach for your brush. The application and heat-activation guide walks through the drying method. It doesn’t offer a brush-free method or recommend using a smaller amount on curls.
Will it keep your curls defined?
The product description promises protection against humidity, zero frizz and shine, but gives no technique for tightening curls. Adding a styling product before blow-drying to bring back definition would go against the instructions.
If you’d rather explore other ways to manage humidity, take a look at the frizz and humidity guide. For waves that seem less defined, why your waves look less defined can help you work out whether length, build-up or the condition of your hair fibre is playing a part.
A look at the formula
The formula contains polysilicone-29 and silicone quaternium-18. If you’re looking for an oil suited to your hair type, the hair oil guide covers the options. After a swim in the sea or a pool, rinse your hair first. The mist doesn’t replace that rinse, or a heat protectant you already use separately.
